Artificial Intelligence in Family Planning- A Policy Framework for Safe, Ethical and Responsible Implementation

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being integrated into healthcare and has the potential to strengthen family planning (FP) programmes by improving counselling, supporting informed decision-making, enhancing follow-up, optimising commodity management and generating timely information for programme planning and monitoring. Despite these opportunities, the application of AI in family planning presents important ethical, legal and operational challenges because contraceptive decisions involve reproductive rights, informed choice, privacy, dignity and individual autonomy.
