Biography

I am Public health professional working for the Ethiopian Public Health Institute for more than 10 years as senior researcher and was in a leadership position for more than three years. I specialize in infectious disease (PhD) and published more than 40 peer reviewed publications in the field. I win grants and concluded more than 12 research projects from international organizations like World Health Organization (WHO), The Global Fund (GF) and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). I also successfully concluded multi-country projects. Briefly, I was principal investigator for the Ethiopian Population Based HIV Impact Assessment and also principal investigator and International consultant for HIV bio-behavioral study among refugees in East Africa. I was managing the COVID-19 response as Chief of laboratory service and surveillance in the country. I was one of Chevening leadership fellowship awardees financed by the UK foreign affairs by 2022. I have ample international exchange and training experience. I graduated PhD in infectious, Masters of Public Health (MpH), MSc in Biomedical Science and BSc in Medical Laboratory Science. Currently, I am is executing a project on “big data” in collaboration with Coventry university, center for computational science (UK) and also a collaborative research project with Chinese center for disease prevention and control focusing on “HIV drug resistance”.
