Associate Professor, Petroleum Geology, Geology and Exploration
Northeast Petroleum University, Daqing, China

Biography
Dr. Rizwan Sarwar Awan is a geoscientist with a passion for unlocking Earth's deep-time secrets through sedimentary and isotope geochemistry. Currently an Associate Professor at Northeast Petroleum University in China, his work explores the evolution of paleo-environments, organic matter enrichment, and the geochemical dynamics of unconventional hydrocarbon systems. He earned his Ph.D. from the China University of Petroleum, Beijing, where his research focused on the Early Cambrian black shale systems of South China. Dr. Awan has authored over 40 scientific papers in leading journals and presented his findings at prominent international conferences including AGU, GSA, and the International Palaeontological Congress. His research spans a diverse range of topics, from shale gas potential and rare earth element behavior to natural hydrogen storage and fossil geochemistry. He serves as an academic editor and reviewer for several high-impact journals and has been recognized with multiple awards for his contributions to the geoscience community.
