When the Body Will Not Rise: Fatigue in Autonomic Dysfunction as Lived Experience

Background: Fatigue is one of the most pervasive and disabling features of autonomic dysfunction, yet it remains poorly characterised within traditional biomedical frameworks. Often misinterpreted as simple tiredness, this form of fatigue reflects complex dysregulation across autonomic, cardiovascular, metabolic, and neuroimmune systems. Objective: To present a lived-experience account of fatigue within autonomic dysfunction, integrated with current medical understanding, in order to bridge the gap between subjective experience and physiological explanation.
