What can be a Classic Syllogism in Fuzzy Logic?

Abstract

Andreea V. Cojocaru and Stefan Balint

Using the concept of Degree of Fulfillment (DOF) this paper presents 11 different fuzzy logic understanding of a classic syllogism. For each of 11 understandings of the same classic syllogism an example is given. Each example contains computations corresponding to three different fuzzy premises. The computed DOF of the 33 fuzzy syllogisms conclusions reflect the dependence of the “truth value” on fuzzy premises. This kind of results can be useful in evaluation of, premises based, human made decision, particularly within the domains of Autonomy & Unmanned Systems and Data Assisted Decision Making by focusing on how human thinking can be explicitly and computationally integrated into systems of fuzzy reasoning used in technical problems.
