Simulation of the Moiré Effect in a Volumetric Cube. Part II: Edge and Vertex Views

Abstract

Vladimir Saveljev

In this paper, we continue investigating the moiré effect in a multilayered volumetric cube in detail. We calibrated the two views (edge and vertex). The corridors appear at angles with rational tangents modified by square roots of integers. The edge view resembles the face (front) view, whereas the vertex view is distinct. We derive formulas for the focus points in both views. Non-radial corridors in the vertex view comprise a series of equilateral triangles that run parallel and perpendicular to radial corridors. Formulas and illustrations are provided. These results can be used in crystallography and to minimize the moiré effect in volumetric 3D LED displays.
