A Case Study of A-Level Learners' Mindsets in an International Education Institution in China

This case study examines the learning mindsets of A-level students at an international school in China through a long- term follow-up study and multilevel thematic comparison. Multiple methods, including questionnaires, interviews, informal observations, and document analysis, were used to produce detailed and comprehensive descriptions. The research focuses on three areas: the characteristics of students' learning mindsets in this environment, the factors influencing these mindsets, and teachers’ responses. The findings show that most students here have mixed learning mindsets and identify the factors that influence these mindsets. The study recommends that teachers receive training and offers mindset intervention strategies for this setting. The follow-up study improves understanding of the relationship between learning mindsets and other factors such as effort, learning strategies, and help-seeking behavior.
