Biography
Dr. Soma Rohatgi is working as an Assistant Professor in the BSBE Dept, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India since Dec 2014. She did her Bachelors (B.Sc Honours) in Zoology from Delhi University in 2001 and her Masters (M.Sc) in Genetics from Department of Genetics, University of Delhi, South Campus in 2003. Dr Rohatgi pursued her PhD under Dr. Devinder Sehgal from National Institute of Immunology, JNU, New Delhi from 2003-2009. She was employed as a Post-doctoral Research Associate with Dr. Ranjan Sen at National Institute on Aging (NIH), Maryland, USA from 2009-2010. Subsequently, she was employed as a Post-doctoral Research Associate with Dr. Liise-Anne Pirofski at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA for 5 years (2010-2014). Dr. Rohatgi relocated to India in 2014, on receiving Ramalingaswami Fellowship from DBT. At IIT Roorkee, she works in the field of Infectious Disease Immunology. Her research interests lie in the area of vaccine research and passive immunotherapy using monoclonal antibodies. Her research group in the laboratory of ?Molecular & Translational Immunology? at BSBE Dept, IIT Roorkee currently focuses on invasive fungal infections (mediated by Candida species, Cryptococcus and Mucor) and viral infections (Chikungunya and SARS-CoV-2).
