According to a recent editorial in Lancet journal “Type 2 diabetes is becoming the plague of the 21st century” and “threatens to reduce life expectancy for future generations globally”. Diabetes is a global public health crisis which was fueled by rapid urbanization, nutrition transition, and increasingly sedentary lifestyles.
