Biography
My name is D.H.U.Eranda, a PhD scholar at Walailak University, Thailand. My research topic is " Bio-based coating from chitosan, fish gelatin and plant extract for the shelf life extension of fresh yellowfin tuna fillets". I completed my B.Sc. special degree in food science and technology from Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka with an upper second class. My undergraduate research was published in two symposia/conferences. Initially it was published in proceedings of the 64th Annual Scientific Session conducted at University of Colombo, under the section- E2 (601/ E2) Srilankan Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS) titled " Development of novel food packaging film made up from Chitosan, Fish Gelatin, and determination of its physical and biodegradable characteristics". Later the paper " An initiative to develop novel biodegradable packaging film by means of fish and crustaceans waste based substances" was published in the 1st International Symposium on Polymer Science and Technology , Department of Chemistry, University of Sri Jayawardenapura (2012). Furthermore I am an ISO 9001;2015 Quality Management system lead auditor, FSSC 22000 Food safety management auditor and professionally qualified in Japanese food safety management systems ( JAS) and auditing. Moreover I am working a per-reviewer to the journals "Biocatalysis and Agricultural biotechnology" and "Scientific African" published by Elsevier.
Research Interest
My research interests are biodegradable packaging films/coating materials developed from natural biopolymers extracted from marine bioprocessing industrial waste based substances, specially from chitosan and fish gelatin
