Biography
Research profile of prof A Roy Chowdhury Prof A Roy Chowdhury had an initial research interest in the Field of High Energy Physics in which he did his PhD in the year 1974 from Jadavpur University. His work was mainly on Dual Resonance Model and its Applications. Later he became interested in the SOLITON dynamics of Integrable systems. In this field he mainly worked on the application of Lie Algebra,Prolongation Structure,Inverse Scattering, Backlund Transformation and Paineleve analysis. On the other hand the unstable nonlinear systems leading to CHAOS was simulated and studied numerically in a host of papers----where the formation of Strange Attractor,Lyapunov Exponents, birth of Hidden Attractors,Shrimp structure in the parametric space, were studied. In this connection the TOPOLOGICAL analysis of the periodic orbits with the help of SYMBOLIC DYNAMICS and KNOT theory were studied which help to clarify the structure of phase space. As an application of these nonlinear dynamics his next interest was the study of OPTICAL PULSE PROPAGATION in OPTICAL FIBRE. Here he has analysed the role of Raman Scattering ,Cubic nonlinearity, nonlinear dispersion on the various modes of pulse propagation. In this respect the coaxial propagation and its perturbation due to trnsverse mode is also analysed. Nonparaxial effects on the propagation and scattering of a polarized optical pulse are also studied. As an applied experimental part of chaotic models he studied also different nonlinear systems on NONLINEAR ANALOGUE CIRCUITS. The corresponding attractors and periodic orbits along with the Bifucation could be visualised on an Electronic Oscilloscope. Here one can hve a comparision of the numerical analysis with the actual physical situation. In his course of research years he had always An interest in the study of NONLINEAR ASPECTS OF PLASMA PHYSICS. In this respect both the Hydrodynamical and Kinetic models are applied for the evolution of SOLITONS and Shock waves. Both classical and quantum plasma are analysed.A very important aspect is the Modulational Stability. An extension of this type of this stability when there is some incoherence in the Plasma is called Wigner Stability which is a very important fact in the light of quantum plasma. In fact starting from 1974 to the present time 2021 almost 350 papers are published.A complete list is best seen in Google Citations---- https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=dXsxDhgAAAAJ Prof A Roy Chowdhury has three books published by CRC Press (UK) 1)Lie Algebraic methods in Integrable Systems--- Chapman and Hall/CRC (2000) 2)Painleve Analysis and Applications----Chapman and Hall /CRC (2000) 3)Quantum Integrable Systems----Chapman and Hall/CRC(2004) He was an ASSOCIATE MEMBER of ICTP (Trieste)Italy from 1982 to 1988.
