Abstract

Debesh Nilendu

Background: This review explores the forensic implications of oro-dental tissue optical properties, focusing on colour and translucency. These properties are crucial for age estimation, identification, and postmortem investigations.

Methodology: A comprehensive literature search was conducted to gather relevant studies on dental colour and translucency in forensic dentistry.

Results: Dental optical properties significantly impact forensic applications, aiding in age estimation, individual identification, and postmortem cases.

Conclusion: Understanding the role of oro-dental tissue optical properties enhances forensic investigations, supporting identification and medico-legal decision-making. Standardization and further research will advance their forensic applications. The optical features of oro-dental tissues have promising potential in forensic science, providing valuable insights into human identification and age estimation.
