Mechanobiology Journals

Mechanobiology can be described based on the individual cellular components involved. However, it is important to note that as in most biological systems, these components do not act in isolation, but instead contribute to a complex network of pathways. These pathways give rise to larger cellular processes, such as mechanosensing, intracellular signaling, nuclear mechanotransduction or even cell wide responses such as cell motility. These responses may once again encourage the cell to test its environment, thereby producing a feedback loop. Therefore, each seemingly discrete event or individual component exerts an influence on the others. This allows the system to continuously adjust to changes in its environment in order to maintain integrity by eliciting appropriate response.
