Human Myiasis

Myiasis is the infestation of live vertebrates with dipterous larvae. Depending on the body's location, and the relationship of the larvae with the host, the parasite can cause a broad range of medical conditions. Many types of flies can cause myiasis in humans or animals, such as Oestridae, Calliphoridae and Sarcophagidae.. Myiasis  usually occurs in tropical and subtropical areas. These can include countries in Central America, South America, Africa, and the Caribbean Islands.
