From the long periods of May through September, torpor is displayed by this species. During this period they can encounter lost 5 to 35 g in body weight with a decrease in tail outline from 4 to 12 mm. The tail loses its periphery since it is a significant fat store for these creatures and during torpor they drain these stores. Females as a rule stay in torpor longer than guys (Glaston, 1979).
