Angiosarcoma is a rare type of cancer that forms in the lining of the blood vessels and lymph vessels. Your lymph vessels, which are part of your immune system, collect bacteria, viruses and waste products from your body and dispose of them. Angiosarcoma is a cancer of the inner lining of blood vessels, and it can occur in any area of the body. The disease most commonly occurs in the skin, breast, liver, spleen, and deep tissue.Angiosarcoma is a cancer of the endothelial cells that line the walls of blood vessels or lymphatic vessels. Angiosarcoma patients are mostly diagnosed after the tumor has spread all over the body and this type of late identification may result in a poor prognosis.Angiosarcoma is a vascular tumor, the cells of which manifest many of the morphologic and functional properties of normal epithelium. Angiosarcoma is an aggressive malignancy with endothelial differentiation and notoriously poor prognosis despite aggressive therapy. Limited data are available to guide management decisions. To address this limitation, we present a large retrospective analysis of angiosarcoma patients treated at a single institution over a 25-year period.
